Dzielna street had a name change in 1924. Today this street is called Narutowicza. The "tenement" is still standing today. This is the building the family were living in during the census. Note German and Polish, as this area was under Prussian control at the time. "Karta meldunkowa do spisu ludności" in Polish is a Registry card for population census in English

This photo is so important to me (Levi Lipszyc) because it shows my grand mother - Malka Kaimowicz Lipszyc, right side
on left is Leja Ryfka Lipszyc and older woman must be Genia- Kaim Kadysz Kaimowicz's wife
standing over her late husband.
We got this picture from Morris Kaimowitz when I was 2 or 3 years old
and I cut this photo into very small pieces in 1950.
We had tiny little speck of the face
when my mother made a portrait of it, my father said that it do not look like his mother,
but this is all we had left.
When I looked at the picture Alan sent me in 2020 , (written on tomb "Kajim Kadysz Kaimowicz 1839-1900)
I recognized that we have portrait of Leja Ryfka Lipszyc (b. 4-3-1895, died Auschwitz -1942 ) standing on left.
Woman on right side was Malka Kaimowicz Lipszyc, according to Sheryl and Evelyn Fine, my cousins.
I was very happy to see my grandma's face for the first time, it brought me to tears and I am 74 years young.
One mystery was solved.
My father died in 1991, mother 2010 so they didn't see this picture. I wish they did.
Now is the question; when this picture was taken?
I think it was taken in 1938.
My father said that it was taken when his mother Malka's father died in Poland.
in front of the tomb is a casket with Malka's father named also Kajim Kadysz Kaimowicz ( born? - died?)
Tombstone of
Kayim Kaddysh Yitzchok Kaimowitz.
The four people in the picture, taken 1938,
have now been officially identified and confirmed.
From left to right:
Genia Kaimowitz - Malka’s mother
Leja Riwka Lipszyc
Leib Lipszyc (Malka’s husband)
Malka Kaimowitz
KAIMOWITZ
Here is hidden
A man of faith
All his days he went in the way of perfection
Who feared Hashem and loved the wise
Gathered to his people at almost 70 years of age
His soul shall dwell in the lofty treasuries
Mr Kayim Kaddish Yitzchok
son of our teacher Rabbi Meir Mottel Z"L (of blessed memory)
Dayan & Moreh Tzedek
Who passed away 22nd Menachem Av
5660 TNSBH (His soul shall be bound in the bond of the living)
The civil date is 17th August, 1900.
A Dayan which is very prestigious and implies a much greater knowledge of Halacha and Judaism than a Rabbi. Moreh Tzedek is a term used to describe a Dayan and means “Instructor of Tzedek (Law / Justice)” In Yiddish they call it Yichus!

"I remember the occasion well – it was soon after Tobe and I were married l949 and I am wearing my wedding dress I remember how pretty your Mum looked Your grandfather belonged to a Jewish society, they had health insurance and togetherness meeting folk from their homeland – this was their annual dinner and he invited his children and T and me to join them. I think he hoped that T would join, but he didn’t."......Queenie's quote.
